Nao Tokui

Nao Tokui is an artist, DJ, and researcher. He is the founder and CEO of Qosmo, Inc, a Tokyo-based AI Creative studio. Recent works include a collaboration with Brian Eno and an AI DJ Project, in which a Machine Learning-based DJ plays alongside a human DJ (Nao, himself), taking turns selecting and playing one song at a time. Nao’s work has been exhibited at New York MoMA, Barbican Centre(London), and the InterCommunication Center(Tokyo). Nao is an associate professor at Keio University where he has been running the Computational Creativity Lab since 2019.
While pursuing his Ph.D. on Human-Computer Interaction and Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the University of Tokyo, Nao released his first music album and other singles, including a 12-inch with Nujabes, a legendary Japanese hip-hop producer.
Nao published his first book on AI and Creativity in January 2021 (Okawa Publishing Award 2021 winner).
