Stochastic invites innovators interested in shaping the future of AI/ML music and sound tech to apply to our summer 2025 session: Alternative Frontiers. We welcome proposals that imagine new relationships for music and sound in society.

Projects that seek to create new possibilities for music education, participation, listening, discovery, collaboration, analysis, contextualization, performance, and composition are encouraged.

Engineers passionate about building tools to enhance the role of music, sound editing, soundscapes, and sound effects in media production, cinema, gaming, world-building, dance, theater and other forms of storytelling are also invited to apply.

The program will include some very special guest artists as well as industry insiders as speakers, collaborators, and advisors.

Residencies include work space, housing (for those traveling from outside the bay area), and shop access. Residents participate in weekly lunches and dinners with the cohort and invited guests. Applicants may request funds to support travel and other expenses.
